Building E of the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus

Early cult building and priests’ residence

The foundations of Building E preserve evidence of an early phase of worship in the lowland sanctuary. The building enclosed a small temple and an altar. Its rooms housed the earlier place of ritual sleep, before the long stoa of the Abaton took on that role. The building later served as a residence for priests.
